Within the following paragraphs and presentation Team A will identify the research proposal of the education and mindset behind the choice of a career in law enforcement. The objective of the research is to understand and develop funding needed for that choice. The proposal will include the methods used, the factors, significance behind the design, procedures followed, and if the results are confirmed within the hypothesis. The anticipated outcome of this research is to understand why the choice of a career in law enforcement and address the needs of education and funding to help fulfill that choice. A foundation for the program design and polices needed for development of educational needs will be set within the following proposal. The issue Team A will be examining is the education of officers, why they decided on that career choice, what motivated them and what was needed to fulfill that goal. The significance of this issue is to develop an idea of what is needed of an individual to become an officer. In general terms the proposed study is the psychology that lies behind the mindset of a career in law enforcement. To identify that psychology the design Team A will be using is qualitative with a scientific method of inductive or “bottom-up.”
With a qualitative approach the proposal will use an objective, formal, systematic process in which the research will rely primarily on the collection of qualitative data. Research questions would be based on why that choice, what motivated the individual, what direction of education was needed and did those choices fulfill the goal that person had set to fulfill. This proposed study will help to aid in financial funding, physical, and social development of education and background issues within certain communities. The study may help in research problems that include administration decision-making needs, scientific or intellectual interests that may attempt to ameliorate crime (University of Phoenix, 2010).
The questions related to the proposed research of education and the career choice of law enforcement will raise specific hypothesis or claims. Why that choice and how the education issues are going to affect the areas needed to succeed. In theory the variables behind the choice will test if the education stood behind the motivation of the individual. Qualitative methods will allow the research to use the variables to focus on the multiple realities and perspectives of individuals. The design of qualitative methods looks at the variables in a natural setting using the interaction between each to come up with a conclusion. The types of data Team A will be using are in-depth interviews, participant observations, field notes, and open-ended questions. Using words, images, and categories the data analysis will search for patterns, themes, and holistic features to come up with particularistic findings. ("Develop A Research Proposal,” n.d.). Qualitative methods explore the meaning behind the research with a goal of understanding what, how, and why. The researcher gains a new perspective while collecting in-depth information, rich descriptions, and sensitive topics while exploring culturally defined experiences. In this study the procedures for this qualitative research will sensitize ideas or terms that enhance the understanding reality under investigation of study (Hagan, 2010, p. 14). The participant will take a survey with in-depth interviews to propose a complete analysis of the outcome by planning, collecting, analyzing, and distributing the data results. Using open-ended questions can assist in finding extra meaning of the subject’s knowledge. These questions will allow researcher to be participant observers and collect detailed field notes to accumulate data on the subject....
